About us

Here, at Twelve Show Place, we have created a unique Health Club in a well designed facility with exceptional service and high-end equipment not seen before in Christchurch. Our capped membership means it will never feel like a crowded commercial gym and allows us to provide more personalised service to each and every one of our members. With well educated and experienced exercise specialists providing sound advice and programme design you need not worry about putting your health in the hands of trainers fresh out of certificate courses.

Facility

We occupy the first floor of a purpose built, architecturally designed, open plan facility with open views to the port hills in a new landscaped business park. The gym floor is a spacious functional area bordered by cardio equipment with well spaced resistance machines and room for stretching, abdominal exercises and free weights.

Our changing rooms are a highlight with an impressive resort feel, ample wood-panelled lockers, great showers and complimentary hair and body products.

Plus plenty of reserved free parking surrounding the gym.

 

Equipment

Our treadmills, cross trainers, cycles and stepper are all top of the range LifeFitness models complete with Sky Television and iPod connectivity, allowing you to watch and listen to whatever you like. There are also two of the latest Concept Two rowers.

The majority of our strength training equipment is also top of the range LifeFitness machines. These machines are extremely smooth and easy to operate giving quick effective exercise options for each and every key muscle group or action.

The premium, Hammer Strength, free weights and smith machine complete our resistance training equipment with style.

 

Assessments

We offer a comprehensive fitness assessment including tests for flexibility, cardiovascular endurance (sub max VO² test), upper body strength, abdominal strength, and body composition to get the full picture, and allow us to design a tailored programme for your needs. You will receive a full report on your fitness levels with comparisons to population norms helping you understand what needs to be targeted.

Assessments and re-assessments are all included in the membership price.

Programmes

Taking into account the information from your health screening, the results from your fitness assessment, and your health and fitness goals, we design a personalised exercise programme for you to complete in the gym. Each time we write you a new programme (ideally every 6-10 weeks), we work one on one with you to ensure you use the correct technique and level of resistance for each exercise.

Our trainers have a wealth of experience in assisting a wide variety of people to reach their health and fitness goals. We are confident we can write a programme that will help you reach yours.

 

Other Services

Personal training: Our Personal Trainer at the Health Club is Terry Davies, Terry has been working in the fitness industry for 28 years, and he offers a wealth of experience. Personal training offers you the opportunity to be very specific with your training, and helps you get results. It’s very common for people to go to the gym for months and not get the results they wanted, and then drop out of exercising.  Working with a personal trainer, the benefits are motivated workouts, proper technique and a new workout every session.
